My Favorite month! Not only do baseball season starts. But it’s Autism Awareness month. Some of my Coaching decisions come from Autistic kids. When I was a sub at one of my old public schools in Jersey City #39. I had the opportunity to work under a lady staff/ like 5 or 6 of them, all on point with the kids. They were like big sisters/mentors to me. There was one Asian kid and he can tell time in his head or counted on his fingers all day. If it was gym time he would jump up and say gym, if we were in the auditorium watching a show with the class “ No clock on the wall “ when 2:30 came around he would stand up and say 2:30 time to go 💪🏾.So I started watching how unique they all were. I said forget it practice at 7 or 8am with my baseball teams. They made me realize if a kid wants it he will be there. My Autistic kids knew what they wanted. Taught me that we’re all the same, some just have different abilities and need a little more love and attention until they mature. Respect them and they will respect you! Love them and they will love you!
